What is P.A.P?

Post-Activation Potentiation (P.A.P.) developed by Dr. Marcus Elliott (Chairman of Beachbody's Scientific Advisory Board) and his Peak Performance Project (P3) is described as "A phenomenon that refers to enhancement of muscle function as a result of its contractile history. P3 has found that Complex Training is far superior in developing athletic power to either resistance training or plyometric training alone, and while there are other mechanisms involved in P3 complexes, the successful manipulation of P.A.P. plays an important role."

This means that doing a plyometric/explosive movement immediately after a resistance/weighted exercise can significantly increase the amount of power (speed & strength) produced by fit individuals. Another benefit of Complex Training is that it has been shown to greatly reduce risk of injury.

Moving on to today's workout:

P90X2 Yoga was on the docket today. Tomorrow is a scheduled rest day. I felt energized and strong today and elected to swap things up a bit. I decided to pop in INSANITY: THE ASYLUM'S SPEED & AGILITY. I am an Insanity/Asylum junkie! This body-weight cardio routine was perfect for me today. I will do yoga tomorrow on my rest day. Yoga will reboot my body prior to tackling P.A.P Lower and Upper again on Friday/Saturday.
