BODY BEAST RESULTS AND REVIEW:
Here's my personal results and review of the Body Beast program "Lean Schedule":

What I liked about the Body Beast:
- The Body Beast program will produce muscular hypertrophy (If you do your part - workout hard and fuel your body properly).
- I put on 5lbs of lean mass and decreased my body fat % by half a percent (Lean Schedule). No other program has put on that amount of lean mass and simultaneously reduced my body fat percentage.
- Both "Build Legs" and "Bulk Legs" are by far the best and hardest leg routines that I've done to date. Both workouts combine aerobic, anaerobic and strength training effectively and efficiently. If you purchase Body Beast only for the leg workouts, your getting a great deal in my opinion. I'll go on record as saying that both leg workouts are probably the hardest that have ever been put on DVD.
- "Beast Cardio & Abs" is an outstanding metabolic conditioning workout. It is functional, fast, efficient and it will produce body composition change if you push yourself and maintain proper nutrition.
- The "Book of The Beast" is thorough, well written and provides all the information that you'll need to succeed (workouts, safety & proper form, equipment, supplements, nutritional requirements, body fat % and caloric formulas, meal planner/recipes).
- The "Build" workouts are all incredibly challenging and effective. My personal favorite is "Build Back/Bis".
What I disliked about the Body Beast:
- This is strictly a body building program. As such it lacks variety.
- The "Bulk" phase became very monotonous.
- I did not enjoy the "Bulk Shoulders" workout. In my opinion it does not compare to "Build Shoulders", which I found exceptionally challenging and fun.
- The warm-ups and cool-downs are lacking. Honestly, they are almost non-existent. I would always do my own warm-up and cool-down in addition to the very short segments included on the DVD's.
- There is no stretch/recovery workout included with the program. I would always do my own yoga/stretch workout on the scheduled rest days. I found this to be very necessary to maintain flexibility, range of motion, reduce soreness and recover from all of the muscular micro-trauma incurred from the workouts.
- There was not enough core work in the program. Although core exercises were included at the end of each DVD, they did not include enough volume to be effective in my opinion. I typically doubled up the core exercises to get more out of them.
***Disclaimer*** In all fairness to the program, what I disliked is mostly due to my personal preference for a more functional fitness program like P90X2 or Insanity's The Asylum. I am not a "bodybuilder". This was a completely different style of training than what I am used to. As such, there are parts of the program that I really enjoyed and other parts that became very monotonous for me. I enjoy more well-rounded programs that incorporate weightlifting, yoga/stretching/recovery, core training, body-weight training, cardio conditioning and plyometrics. Having said that, this program would be a perfect match for anyone who mostly enjoys weightlifting/bodybuilding and/or would be looking for a fitness program that will strictly produce muscular hypertrophy. You will put on muscle with the program.
