THE TRUTH ABOUT HEALTH AND FITNESS. NOTHING WORTHWHILE COMES EASY.

If anyone tells you that getting in shape is easy, they're lying to you. The truth is that it's not easy. There are no quick fixes, magic pills, teas, gadgets or supplements that will strip off pounds and suddenly produce six pack abs. Sorry to tell you that getting in shape takes desire, determination and discipline. It takes hard work and diligence that is applied and compounded over time.

You have to commit to change. You must become the change. Do you expect to get healthy or lose weight by doing the same things that you've always done? Do you really expect anything different if you behave just like you always have in the past? How will you ever see different results if you make the same choices and eat the same things that you've always eaten? Will your fitness improve if you continue to make the same excuses for not exercising and moving your body more?

Here's the honest truth: You have to want to change. Next, you have to be willing to change. Finally, you have to take action. Most of us don't like change. Admittedly, change can be scary. It shakes us up, or forces us out of our comfort zone. Human beings have an innate tendency to become complacent over time. We get comfortable in life. We stop challenging ourselves to become more than what we are presently. Change is hard. Change is work. Becoming the change is the only thing that will produce change in your life.

In order to permanently change your health and fitness, you must commit to a new lifestyle. Now please, don't get me wrong, this doesn't mean that fitness is not fun. Just because something is challenging or hard doesn't mean that it's not a fun activity to engage in. Here's more truth for you... The most challenging things in life are the most rewarding and many times the most fun in retrospect. Fitness is actually a ton of fun and the more fit you become, the more fun you will have in every area of your life.

So, what does this lifestyle change entail? It's a simple formula really: Fitness + Nutrition + Support = Success.

1. Commit to your fitness by moving more. Move your body on a daily basis. Get outside and play with you spouse, kids and friends. Work in your yard. Take your dog for a walk. Lift some weights. Throw in your favorite workout DVD. Go for a run, jog or a bike ride. Take a walk.

2. Commit to your nutrition. Take one unhealthy thing out of your diet each week and replace it with something healthy and beneficial that fuels your body, mind and spirit. Begin to educate yourself on the benefits of eating whole, local unrefined, unprocessed foods. Make small changes in you diet on a daily and weekly basis. Over time the benefits of this will exponentially compound and you'll reap huge rewards.

3. Commit to finding like-minded people who support your health, fitness and nutrition goals. Embrace people that will push you to become more and hold you accountable when you waiver.

Become the change that you seek and you will succeed!

Be good to yourself. Have faith that you are capable of so much more than what you think you are. Face your fears head on and be strong. Change is a challenge and the ability to embrace change and overcome  our challenges is what makes our humanity such a special gift. We all have the ability to shape our own future and make our own reality. We do this by the choices that we make on a daily basis.

What do you choose to change in your life? Go on now... it's time to make your own reality.
